You might remember from a series of blurred Instagram stories (mostly featuring twinkling lights and sequins like a Gemma Collins disco sex tape) that I recently had the pleasure of attending the Very press day. The cream of the crop of Liverpool bloggers (plus me) were given an exclusive peek into festive fashion for women, men, and kids – as well as fab gift inspo from premium skincare and make-up brands – to get us all in the mood for a Very Merry Christmas.
Located in their almost secret headquarters on the outskirts of its hometown of Liverpool, the Very team showcased the best in Women’s fashion and accessories for this party season. My top picks featured luxe fabrics, statement florals, and of course the winter staple: lots and lots of sequins.
With well known brands such as River Island, Ted Baker, and Karen Millen, online shoppers can choose from familiar names while its exclusive own label V by Very competes with its collection of leather skirts, sequin midi dresses, tailored tuxedo jackets, pillar box red biker jackets and candy floss pink faux fur coats. You can shop the Very partywear collection here.
Meanwhile in the men’s department Ted Baker and the brand’s own label get another outing alongside designer shoemaker Hudson in tailored suits, perfectly polished brogues, and overcoats in smart charcoal and dapper camel.
The kidswear was to die for with Monsoon and V by Very stealing the show. Christmas just isn’t Christmas without little girls in red dresses and the collection of smart coats and shrugs made me broody. The boyswear was similarly up to scratch with festive navy blue occasionwear to complement the girls in their tulle, sparkles and beading.
As well as the partywear for all the family and make up from Illamasqua who need no introduction, I enjoyed discovering my new favourite skincare brand and answer to all my Christmas shopping prayers: the Skin Doctors. My faves from their collection was the little collagen ampoules that remind me of those little carvol capsules you used to have when you were poorly as a kid – except these are much more fun for Mums. Check them out and you’ll see what I mean. Perfect for my Glow Up and ideal to give as gifts (I’ve already ordered like a billion).
Here’s me trying to give Scarlet Wonderland the hard sell and her trying to shrug me off in favour of actual professional advice. Dunno why.
All in all the event was a success; I stuffed my face with butties and cake because I’m not in the slightest bit fancy, and slowly but surely dragged myself into the festive season, ready for a Very Merry – and sequinned – Christmas.
